4XI and Ladies lose

16 Jul 2018

Mildenhall 4XI took on East Bergholt 2XI and chased a bit of leather. East Begholt batted first and racked up 290 for 8 from 45 overs. Harris scored 60, Griffin 94 and 24 from Taylor and 20 Not Out for Last. Skipper Lou Handy bolwed 15 long overs for 90 runs. There were 4 wickets for Raeel Afaal (4-67) and 4 wickets to young leg spinning sensation Doctor Muhammad Ubaid (4-83). The total was always going to be tough but Mildenhall gave it a real go. It was the Handy combination of Reuben (62) and the in-form man mountain Lou (89) that gave Mildenhall real respectability. Jim Allen weighed in with 38. Mildenhall finished on a very credible 243 for 6 from 45 overs.   The Chairman is currently averaging 82 this season and looking in premium touch.

Mildenhall ladies suffered their third defeat on the bounce as the took on Copdock and OI's. Batting first Copdock made 231 for 8 from 35 overs. Leveridge with (35), Polly with 53, Woodward (37 not out) and Barnard (20). A tremendous bowling performance from skipper Kayleigh Francis with 6-46 (best ladies bowling figures?) and Helen Atkinson with 2-20. It was a tough total to chase and one that Mildenhall couldn't reach. Kim Hancock scored 57 before she was out to Tweedy. Hannah 'Flash' Gordon made 65 on her return to the ladies team. Mildenhall ladies finished on 181 all out from 25 overs. A good effort in vain from the ladies. Hopefully things will turn around in the next match.

As in victory!
