1XI dominate at home

16 Jul 2018

Mildenhall 1XI took on Horsford in another EAPL match this weekend. Mildenhall bowled first and straight away made inroads into the Horsford batting lineup. Hugo Douglas and Tom Rash were very controlled with the new ball and the introduction of new player Tristian Blackledge caused even more problems for the Horsford team. There were only 2 batsmen who were able to make double figures for the Norfolk side. Ryan Findlay made 17 and Robert Bridgstock scored a valuable 30 not out. Skipper Rash was superb taking 4-20 from his 12.3 overs. Douglas with 1-11 from 7 overs. Matt Allen took 1-8 from 3 and Blackledge 4-44. Horsford all out for 98 from 36.3 overs. Mildenhall lost a couple of early wickets as Reed (4) and Maiolo (8) were dismissed but that only bought Essex batsman Tom Westley to the crease. Tom scored 37 from 56 balls before he was dismissed. Stamatis made 12 before he was a victim of Brown. The T's Tom and Tristian secured the remaining runs required with Tom finishing 17 not out and Tristian with 13. Mildenhall reaching the target from 28 overs for the lost of 4 wickets.

Mildenhall 2XI travelled to Ipswich and East and had a tight game. Mildenhall batted first. Jon Allen made 21 before he was dismissed. Steve Graham made his normal quality contribution with the bat with 61 before he was LBW to Mildenhall. Andrew Squire made 20, Jack Bowman 27 and Kieran Davis 23. Taha Ahmed looked strong and more physically imposing on his return to 2XI action, Taha made 19 before he was another victim of Mildenhall. The 2XI finished 204 for 9 from their 45 overs. In an ironic twist it was Ipswich's Mildenhall that ripped through our Mildenhall's batting. The bowler Mildenhall finishing with 6-55 from his 15 overs. Ipswich attacked their target extremely vigorously. Johnson with 41, Beaumont 27, Debenham 27 and Lander 58 not out. Ipswich reached their target from only 30.5 overs but for the loss of 8 wickets. Jon Allen took 3-31, Duncan Fraser 2-26 and their were also wickets for Morrison, Cruickshank and Jack Bowman. A tough defeat to take at a bogey venue for the 2XI.
