On Saturday evening nearly 100m people gathered at the Riverside Hotel in Mildenhall for the Mildenhall Cricket Club annual dinner/dance and awards evening.
Amongst the gathering was Frannie Bester who was completing a remarkable story. Just six before the start of the season Bester had a skiing accident while on holiday in France, As a result of a bad breakage to a bone in his leg he had to undergo an operation that resulted in him having a plate and three screws inserted to the leg.
Determined to overcome this set back, he played cricket from the start of the season and slowly improved his mobility. By mid season he was back bowling and on Saturday night he picked up both the Sunday 1st x1 Player of the year and the Saturday 2nd x1 Player of the year awards.
